Happy National Flower Day! To kick off today, I wanted to invite you guys to try a few different things you can do with Rose petals besides placing them in a vase until they wilt. Roses have been included in cosmetics, medicines and therapeutic treatments for centuries.

Did you know Rose water tea can help a soar throat? And that rose water mist can help treat acne while rejuvenating skin?  Did you know that petals are edible?  Yep.  They are so much more than just a flower.  Roses have antibacterial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, properties making them perfect for many beauty and consumption purposes.

⚘ Girly ways to use Roses ⚘

Do a facial mask with them like this one.
Put them in a bath.
Steep rose petal tea like this.

Make sure if you are using store bought roses (especially for consumption) that you check to see if they are pesticide free. Trader Joe's uses California grown flowers but they ARE NOT organic.  Whole foods sometimes carries fresh organic flowers but make sure to check before you go.  I found some dried petals online but Farmers Markets almost always have some.  By Purchasing from them, you support local farms and you get roses that are void of all those harsh chemicals.  You can always use your own flowers in your garden.  And a lot of people wash the petals the same way they wash their veggies.

I really liked the way the rose petals looked in my water.  I normally stray from pink but this made it fun and pretty.  I hope you enjoyed the first day of Spring!  Let me know what you like to do with Roses or if you have tried any of these.
