Mom Jeans & Mimosas

Did you do your spring cleaning yet?  Well if you have, lets fill in those empty spots in your wardrobe with some fresh, new Spring must-haves!  And who better to do it with than a friend?  Karen from For All Things Pretty joins me once again to share some duo outfit inspiration as I cover my personal top three pieces that will add an on-trend appeal to your wardrobe this Spring.

Firstly, before we continue, I highly suggest you do a little spring cleaning if you have not done so.  This means, mark piles in your closet:

Keep
Donate
Sell
Fix
Toss

So keep last springs straw-bottom wedges, fix that strap that broke in the wash, sell that shoe that's much to small, donate that pile of tee's that lost their luster and toss those old underwear... please!  After a good clean closet emerges, then you can asses what's needed vs. what's wanted.  I linked my "organization" post here if you'd like to read it.  I try to add a few pieces to my wardrobe that are Hot this season, while keeping last years trends hanging up on rack where I can see them.
So far this Spring, I have added three key pieces that are so versatile, you can wear them over and over.

1- A White Lace Blouse
2- A Straw Bucket Bag
3- Velvet Strappy Heels

Here's why:

White Lace Blouse
Blouses are never on my "want" list because they can seem complicated. But this Lace Peplum Top from Tobi was so flattering.  Plus, the detail is really what sold me.  It's low in the back, ((which can also be very scary when your chest size is small)) but the peplum style hides any Mommy tummy from sight!  It can easily be paired with a cropped denim jacket or coat but since it was HOT, there was no need. Karen is wearing her white eyelet blouse with the ever-so-popular off the shoulder style.  A definite "do" when it comes to wearing denim!

Straw Bucket Bag
This is a no brainer.  You have more than likely seen straw bags everywhere!  They are not only cute, but most serve a great cause.  Both our bags are artisan made and every purchase generates meaningful income to the designers and their families.  Hers is from the Little Market and mine is from Doen.  Aren't they so cute?  These bags can go from the beach, to the farmers market and even to Lunch.  I will be wearing mine all the way through summer.

Velvet Strappy Heels
You may be like me.  Hesitant to splurge on a pair of shoes for one season.  But look no further because this pair is affordable and there are several more ((I linked some in my previous post, here)) out there for you.  So add some vintage allure with a velvet shoe and step out in style each and every time.  Karen is showing off her strappy heels in the most pigmented hue of deep brown.  The chunky heel lends some much needed comfort and also is right on trend.

We also strolled around Larchmont village and ended up playing with the bougainvillea's in bloom.  Then we cooled off at the cutest Ice cream spot called Jeni's Ice Cream.  🍦 Their back patio is the best place to take a selfie.  ↡
Make sure to check out +Karen O'Brien from For All Things Pretty for her take on this fun Sunday outing.  She's covering the combo that you need to be wearing in her most recent post.  By the way, can you spot all the similarities in Karen & I's ootd's?
