The MOMthly column: 9 goals this year

I can get behind optimism, goal setting and resolution making.  I mean, what a great way to over shadow the lingering depression of Christmas ending?  As the holidays pass and we come back to BEING our true selves, we are able to articulate our own boundaries, dreams and authentic goals. We experience a heightened sense of possibility.  For myself, a fresh new start is exactly what I need.  Here, in no particular order, are my goals because resolutions are weird.

1-ANOTHER FAMILY TRIP OVER SEAS
We have always traveled together every year.  Last years trip to Spain was our biggest and most expensive yet.  It's not easy but way worth it!  This year, we were discussing either Norway or Australia.  Norway because we have some extended family there and really want to explore that part of our culture.  Lets hope at least!  I just submitted the 23 and me test so if it does come back that I'm not Scandinavian then I might change our destination!  

2-GAIN 5-8 POUNDS OF MUSCLE
So I recently decided (technically last year LOL) to cut out sugar during the week.  It lead me to start working out consistently every day at home.  Even if it's just 20 mins a day.  I used to be a very healthy 118 back when I was still gogo dancing full time.  Now, it's hard to even go for a walk but it's not impossible!  I hope I can at the very least, gain a healthy 5 pounds this year.  


3-REVAMP THE BLOG
This is usually the last thing that comes to mind but it is after all, my main form of.. well, everything!  I don't know what I would do without my blog so really, it should be the first thing I maintain.  And let me tell you, it has been a WHILE since I've updated it.  I'ts looking a bit old to me.  If you know of anywhere I can get a blog face lift, do share!  I'd be so grateful.  

4-GET TO 10K NATURALLY ON INSTAGRAM
I am such a slow grower on IG.  That might have something to do with the fact that I don't use any kind of bots, telegram or loop giveaways to generate a quick follow and like.  I really want to stay true to my mission to bring you honest opinions, material and product reviews without any gimmicks.  Plus, not to mention the money that I make goes right back in to content, not into any other side pockets trying to make a buck off of influencers bloggers like myself.  I want to host way more giveaways for you guys that come straight from myself and the companies I work closely with.  Stay tuned for this months giveaway on my Instagram feed!

5-DATE NIGHT ONCE A MONTH
Self-explanatory.  We simply need more "US" time around the Mejia house.  I'd love to do once a month of non-adulting, kid free wine fueled fun or perhaps into the next day if it goes well enough?  Here's to hoping.  **Crosses fingers**  

6-ANOTHER FAMILY ROAD TRIP
I have family in NorCal so we frequent the California coast several times a year.  This time, I'd love to stop in a few places to make new memories in familiar towns.  Last year, we went to San Luis Obispo a number of times and made a few vlogs along the way!  It's actually super fun to record all our trips and even our trip-ups!  Like the accidental diarrhea explosion on our last VLOG.  

7-BE HONEST, OPEN & QUICK TO SHARE.
This year, I planned to continue to remain open about my life as much as possible. For so long, I kept my secrets and tips to myself, selfishly trying to climb to the top. But 2018 taught me to open up my life because that's the only way we can really be relate to others. By lifting up strangers, sharing all my knowledge and helping others, I've gained friends, lots of paid work and serious happiness. I thrive when you thrive!

8-BE MORE INTENTIONAL WITH GOD
Last year, I crippled in the fear of not being enough, not being in control and let my anxiety take hold of my precious time with my family.  Although my anxiety is better than before, it's still hard to get out of that funk that can easily turn in to tumultuous mood swings and even depression.  I've recently joined a Moms group that honestly, became a bit of therapy for me.  I went to church more and still do.  I finally let God take control over my life and it was like a weight being lifted off my shoulders.  This year, I want to pursue his will in my life and live out my God given potential as big as possible!  I plan to spend more time meditating on the Bible, worshiping and listening to positive podcasts on the topic.  See my previous posts on anxiety here.

9-THIS YEAR IS ABOUT WHAT I CAN DO FOR YOU
Lastly, I really want to keep up the momentum of a new year by making it about what I can do for others.  For so long, I have lived in a dangerously prideful state of mind.  I often saw myself as "having the answer" when really I was so full of questions.  I have sought and found irreplaceable peace in knowing that I know NOTHING and being okay with that.  More than okay!  I have plenty more questions but also, plenty more heart.  I have been humbled so much in this past year.  My attitude has been checked at the door like a dusty coat and I don't intend on picking it back up.  My wish is to serve others as much as possible, and when it comes to serving myself, extending grace to do so. Because, well, balance!

What are you most looking forward to this year?  Currently, I'm also doing a fast to rid my body of toxins and to grow closer to God.  EEK!! So much going on but to be honest, ask anyone that knows me... I'm always like this!  I hope you had a blessed NYE so far!!  Leave me a note below!
