You could definitely judge me for some of my choices I’ve made as a parent.
Somewhere between making my son pee in a bottle (to avoid accidents) to forgetting to strap the baby in her chair, it hits me… That feeling that I’m failing as a Mom. That I want to throw the mountains of dishes I’m washing instead of clean them. I want to curse, but my three year old will repeat it. I want to cry to my husband but I’ve already wept in my quick, ten-minute shower.
This is not what I thought Motherhood would be like. At least it’s not portrayed like this. They say women suffer from postpartum but can I blame wanting to curse at the top of my lungs on PPD? I think, unfortunately, I’m past that stage. This photo shoot, however, reminds me that there are good days. That parenthood can actually bring you to extreme happiness. There are no words to describe the love that you have for your children and the love they have for you. Or that in a fervent relationship with your spouse, only becomes stronger with that same Love.
When I look at these images I see love. I see a man I can always depend on and whom I share my trials with. I see a young boy who resembles his Daddy in looks and in good nature. I see a young lady who’s bold attitude mimics mine as well as her constant affection. And I see Myself. A Mother and a wife who knows that tomorrow is another day.
Thank you to my Uncle for capturing all that I love in this world.
Imperfection at it’s finest
