I wear my heart on my sleeve. Literally and figuratively! When I think of Valentines day, I think of hearts, flowers and red everything! Now, the problem for me is that I don’t really like wearing red unless its on my lips. So I decided to go a more basic approach and use what I already own to create a girly look for next to nothing!
I’ve owned this black dress since my birthday and I’ve featured it here. I got the idea of sewing patches to the elbows from seeing a pair of tights with hearts on the knee. I was originally going to sew red patches but then decided to do white because I tend to love contrasting white on black. So, I sewed cutout hearts in white felt and hand stitched them to my elbows. It was a fun DIY that I really enjoyed doing!
I found these tassels at Target for $3 and thought I could somehow add them to my lace up heels. I love tassels and how they can spice up almost anything! My tulle skirt is one of my favorite pieces and I’ve had it for at least two years now. I love finding pieces and utilizing them all the time!
We stopped to snag a pink heart balloon for me and one for the kids. This year, we will be attending Ace’s school’s sweetheart dance so I wanted them to get excited for this Valentine’s day!
