First week of Summer always looks a bit crazy. But don’t blame the players, blame the game. After a decade of winter (or what feels like it) we’re acting like 12 year old girls having a party of pretty clothes, flowers, makeup, and hair. So it’s in with the short skirts, flowy dresses, loose tee’s & bare legs and…
hey look, we have legs and gorgeous arms to bare!
So, in light of that, I’m here with my absolute favorite blogger friend, Karen from For All Things Pretty to share some style inspo on our favorite Summer staples at one of the most magical settings in LA, The Venice Canals.↓
Karen and I love getting together on the weekends. We are both similar in many ways. She always look adorable and I knew she would be in some on-trend ensemble. I have been so busy that I nearly forgot to plan an outfit. I recently grabbed this tee at Forever 21 for under $20 and instantly thought about this high waisted skirt. I like when I can pair something old with something affordable! Plus I’ve been getting so much inspiration from fellow Instagrammers like Naty Michelle and Viva La Bonita. Their feed has a touch of the whole “embroidered trend” which is so easy to emulate! There are so many options to chose from when trying this still-going-strong trend. From shoes for your feet to baseball caps for your head, you pick what works for you!
Just stay focused on one piece when it comes to embroidery. Then, add a pop of red lip color or some red nail polish to finish it off. Adding an accessory works too. A red cross-body maybe? As far as bags goes, I used my Target tote bag that serves as a plant holder at home. I love making many uses for household items. Plus, it’s perfect for throwing an extra pair of shoes into because no on wants to toss a dirty shoe in to their purse. After all, your purse is a shrine. Even Indiana Jones wants in. Gotta keep it clean and polished!
If last summer was all about off-the-shoulder cuts, this year it’s a solo show. Karen nailed this look. She is all about dresses and skirts for summer. She also has a special place in her heart for blooms. If a dress could resemble a flower, it would be these below with their flirty off-the-shoulder cut and pretty color combos. Not to mention, the ruffled trim is mega flattering for small busts like mine. Some are relaxed and offer some room for a daytime look, while others are more fitted and structured. Think wedding guest or early night out with your girls.
