If you follow me on Instagram then you know I’m a big local coffee-shop girl. Recently, I have been asked to share where I go ((+ my pictures of these places)) and I thought it would be fun to share my favorite drinks from the most Instagram-worthy cafes.

Suggested drink: the $10 Latte or a Matcha Latte
Location: all over the general LA area
A local blogger fav, you will find artisan types and blogger types grabbing their drinks in the ever-so-popular “But first, coffee” cups. They have a few locations but they all offer a crisp aesthetic appeal. Walls are adorned with catchy quotes + classic floral prints. And, to make it even cuter, there’s usually a cool neon sign somewhere. My favorite locations are Alfred in the alley and the Silverlake location. You don’t have to get a $10 Latte ((even though it sounds enticing!)) because Alfred pours Portland based Stumptown coffee. Your inner java-junkie will thank you.

Signature drink: Latte with foam art
Location: Melrose Ave, Melrose district
Known for putting famous faces in your latte, Carrera Cafe also offers a European feel with monochromatic hues. White and black contrasting tiles line the floor while the single roses on the tables add a chic touch. It’s one of those places that can make any Instagram photo cool. An absolute must visit. It’s located on Melrose Ave right across from Paul Smith’s “pink wall”, ((which is currently painted rainbow)) also a favorite
blogger spot! And if that’s not enough, there’s usually a mural painted out front. I think its a Lady Gaga theme and before that it was a billion different, awesome things. As far as coffee goes, they serve fine espresso so you are in for a rich, creamy treat! The creamier, the better. They can put almost anything in your coffee foam. I chose, “Ciao bella!” because I’m basic but you can choose anything… Perhaps your kids faces? They also make a number of small dishes. Make sure to ask for the secret egg sandwich!

Signature drink: Cafe Mocha
Location: Downtown & Culver City
What? A cafe mocha? Yes, but let me explain why. They melt their own chocolate candy bar in to the drink. Yes, you heard that right. But don’t be too alarmed. It’s not a sweet drink but a perfect blend of rich chocolate flavor and strong, smooth tasting coffee. The coffee itself is sustainable sourced and made in small batches. It’s no wonder they serve blue bottle in restaurants. It’s a name you can trust. We visit both the Culver City location and the one in downtown. They both offer a simplistic no-fuss scene that’s perfect for chatty friends and families alike. I love everything about both these locations and I guarantee you will too!

Signature drink: Lavender Latte with Almond Milk
Location: Venice Beach
Never have I met more friendly baristas in my life. When you visit Los Angeles, your’e gonna wanna see these guys. Everyone is so nice and their coffee is the kind you want to bring home in bags. And that’s exactly what I do. Located on Abbot Kinney in Venice beach, TOMS will captivate you with their outdoor seating and warm, earthy throw blankets. My daughter loves the little grassy spot in back which gives me the five minutes I need to relax. While grabbing coffee, you can also shop for a shoe or sunnies because they sell those right next to the barista. The lavender Latte is a dream. It never needs anything added to it and is the perfect amount of sweetness. Otherwise, grab a bag of the “Honduras” coffee for the house and rest assure that your purchase will provide water for those who need it.
Other cafes worth the visit:
Did you like this post? Would you like to visit any of these places? I sure hope so! With Love from Los Angeles,
