What makes Summer? Beach days, iced coffee’s and lots of down time. As a work-from-home Mom, I’m constantly trying to fill my schedule with insightful, stimulating activities. I usually make plans to visit the beach, lounge in the backyard or sneak in a little me time while the kids take a nap. I have always enjoyed a good read and I find myself stalking fellow bloggers book-lists to get some inspiration. Then my kids and I head over to my local Barnes & Noble, which has easy access to caffeine and to the Santa Monica Pier. Check, check and check!
They always have the newest books like when Capture you Style by blogger babe Aimee Song came out, I was there purchasing in store. I know your’e asking yourself “Why didn’t she just order it online?” Because DUH. You buy the book then you can meet the author at the store and have a 1 on 1 experience to cherish thereafter. Barnes & Noble has more than 100,000 events per year, bringing major authors, actors, musicians and other celebs to stores all across the country. The list of authors appearing across the country in June includes Chelsea Clinton (who recently released a children’s book), Mike Tyson and many more. Recently, my local LA store welcomed my favorite comedian, Kevin Hart. I heard he wrote a book about his life lessons and had to pick it up! You can find the upcoming events in your area by visiting the Barnes & Noble store locator.

We usually make a pit-stop to the Starbucks located in our store for snacks and, of course, coffee. Then we head over to the kids section. They love browsing the toys and books and could spend hours pretending to read to each other. I love how there’s a story section where kids can lounge or listen to a story teller read a new release. I always find a book or two for their ever-growing library.
