Don’t let your swimsuit ruin a perfectly perfect Labor day weekend. Instead, be confident in what you are wearing. I finally found the self assurance needed in these swimsuit’s when we were in Cancun. I have a mega small chest so when it comes to bikini season, I get a bit stressed trying to find one that doesn’t make me look like a 12 year old boy. Below I’ve listed the details of our look above plus some suits I’ve personally selected for those of us on the smaller end of the bra cup.
When it comes to trends, I try and find one that flatters my chest but doesn’t cover me up completely. That’s where the scalloped style comes to play. The laser cuts on all these suits are so chic and the best part about buying a two piece in a solid color is mixing and matching. Above, I’m wearing a scalloped high waisted bikini bottom from Missguided and a flirty frilly top from Old Navy.
Believe it or not, low cut monokini’s look great on smaller chests and cutout mono’s offer more cover plus a chic new style that’s taking the beaches by storm. After all, we are Moms. We have stretched out skin and our bellybuttons are no longer innie’s.
One trick to buying a flattering cutout is this:
If the side(s) are cutout, buy it!
If the middle is cutout, leave it!
Why? because side cutouts allude to a smaller waist and give you more curves. A middle cutout (like a circle on your belly) makes you appear boxy and without a shape. Look for monokini’s with inserts in the chest to avoid showing the world your nipples… Unless that’s your thing. Black is slimming and white is classic and minimal. Trying any of these would be a great start if you don’t exactly want to “let it all out there.”
Probably the most genius idea for a swimsuit. Frills and Ruffles, oh my! My favorite trend thus far (besides the retro high waisted, high leg bikini bottoms) when it comes to flattering a small bust. These suits add volume to any chest plus they are ah-dorable on babies like Penelope in her one shoulder ruffle from Old Navy. I especially like the “Bardot” style. Although, it doesn’t seem so practical if you have to scoop up little ones while traipsing in the hot sand. My white ruffle-top Monokini is from Forever 21.
Gotta give some love to the crochet swimsuits because they look so good on and off the body. I just love shooting flat lays with mine and I thought I’d share some of my favorite ones I’ve come across on the web. When shopping for a smaller bust, its important to make sure that the straps adjust or that the suit is a tie-back triangle top. This allows you to give your bust a lift in case, well, you have had kids and…. you know the rest. #booblift
