Fall brings many other things besides Pumpkin Spiced Lattes and crunchy leaves. with all the lust-worthy trends out there, one could get carried away. How are we to know what is worth the extra few dollars and what are save-worthy items? After all, being a Mom means you are also the family broker (amongst the long list of self-professed occupations) and you deserve to score a few for yourself! Here is your complete guide on when to splurge and when to save for fall fashion + shoes!
The key to splurging and saving is if it makes the timeless-style cut. Is it a classic like a trench coat or Moto jacket? These items will go a long way in your closet and are definitely worth the mulah. Because essentially you get more for, well, more. This brings me to my first splurge item:
SPLURGE: A TAILORED COAT
I absolutely love spending a little more on outerwear. I have a great moto jacket that I scored at an post-Christmas sale that has seen more winters than Game of Thrones. You can mix and match them, belt them, drape them etc!
✓You can find some amazing pieces at consignment stores online (just like this one here.) or in store. There, you can save money and find a luxury good for a fraction of the cost.
✓ If you find a great coat but it doesn’t curve the body, tailor it! I once found a topshop coat that I got consigned, took it to a tailor who made a size Medium into a size, ME!
I missed the WhoWhatWear mules that were trending from Target and I nearly kicked myself in the butt for it. They had the most gorgeous embroidered mules and many more great styles for a STEAL!! Which, a pair of mules alone can seriously up your closet game. Plus, how easy is it to slip them on.. No complicated laces just pure, chic style.
SPLURGE: A SUPER COZY SWEATER
You ever touch a oh-so soft sweater and then gently put it down never to think of it again… Yeah, no, me neither. Cop that sweater. No guilt included. If you find yourself having an “it’s so fluffy, I’m gonna die!” Agnes moment from Despicable me, buy it! One thing that’s worth the investment is the real deal like Cashmere, alpaca or wool. Look for cable knit, chunky and over-sized for this seasons best picks!
SAVE: SOCK HEELS
Trends that pop up are easy to get behind when the price tag is right. One of the strongest trends I’ve seen this season is the sock boot. Luckily, I was gifted a pair of Vegan ones which are available here but I’ve found some more boots for less than $70 down below. Not included are my pricier picks from Zara like these + these!
Recently, I found out about this new internet company called Reel which helps you save a little everyday to buy what you want. It’s genius when you want to make those splurge purchases but you want to be realistic and budget. So maybe that Trench isn’t so far away right? Visit Reel and see all of their “shopping cart confessions” which are hilarious and totally relatable!
