If I could run a store It would be called forever 31 with garments in stretchy material, gently playing music, and wine or coffee available whenever you’d like. But lets be honest with ourselves, our current stores don’t exactly cater to us Moms. What happens when crops are in season? What if we want to be on trend but we suffer from that darn belly bloat? Don’t just sit the summer out. There’s a few ways to disguise that Mom-belly, food baby or in my case… both! Here’s what I’ve learned.
There’s a few tricks that work like magic when that post-taco meal just doesn’t sit the same as it did when you were 23… no faja needed.
1 crops & skirt sets
Here’s a little cheat. The shorter the crop, the higher the skirt. Luckily there’s a lot of super cute skirt sets out there. Matching has never been so flattering! If the skirt isn’t high enough, I take mine in with my sewing machine but you can take yours to an alterer who can do that for you.
2 Tie a jacket around your waist
Another cheat. I always tie a jacket around my waist when I feel like my butt is too exposed. The same concept applies here. If I’m feeling kinda bloated, I simply add a jacket around my waist. Let’s hope it doesn’t get cold though!
3 High waisted jeans & crop
Just like the skirt and crop sets. Make sure your high waisted pants hit right! My favorite are the Mom jeans from Urban Outfitters. They are always high enough and are so so so chic. But if you are looking for a high waisted skinny jean, then I suggest Zara for really flattering finds.
4 Peplum crop top
A peplum by definition is hanging fabric that provides a flounce. A cropped peplum provides that flounce over your belly area. It’s another cheat since the crop is not too high. Also very flattering with a high waisted pant.
5 Tie front crop
My favorite cheat is the one I’m pictured in above. My go-to Calvin Klein jean shorts paired with a tie front crop. I absolutely love this look. The tie provides a distraction and hides my tiny stretch marks that appeared after having my second baby. My high waisted shorts aren’t actually that high so a basic crop still doesn’t cut it. With this top, I feel confident.

It can be so frustrating trying to find clothes that fit just right. After having two kids, my body is not the same. Now, who do I have to talk to, to pitch this Forever 31 idea? Point me in their direction.
