I get asked often about what I do to stay in shape. I never cover this topic because frankly, I’m not an expert and don’t feel qualified enough to entertain the idea of educating my fellow Mom’s. But here it goes! Below I will disclose my daily, weekly and seasonal routines when it comes to health & working out. + where you can cheat, and where you can’t. All other questions can be forwarded to my husband whose second home is the gym. K, thanks. Moving on!

It’s no secret that I love carbs. Jesus ate carbs. That easily means carbs are HOLY, and thus, must be treated so. However, to combat my love of carbs I only eat them during breakfast. And by breakfast I mean around 10:00 or 11:00 AM. I do not eat anything before that. I’m practicing intermittent fasting. You can find out more about the benefits here and here. Basically you stop eating early (around 6pm) and start eating late (mid morning the next day). You can have water, some tea’s and bone broth. That’s it!
I use bone broth to break-my-fast. But that’s after I drink a hot cup of lemon water. This I prepare as soon as I wake up which, in essence, cleanses my body before I put anything in it. I’ve been doing lemon water for over a year and swear by it. I’ts become so routine that even on the weekend ((aka freedom, aka eat all the carbs)) I do my cup of lemon water first.
Back to the broth…
I love sipping bone broth! It’s beneficial to your gut and can help with other stomach ailments too! I suggest the Simple Truth Organic bone broth which you can shop at Ralph’s or here.
I eat pretty healthy although I’m a firm believer in balance. So for every carrot pack, broccoli bowl and kale salad is one victory cookie. Because, balance.
Drink a ton of water.

Are there cheats to working out? Yes, its called Pre-workout. It basically gives you the energy that you need to power through your workout and break through plateau’s. Lastly, they sent me AdvantraSlim Appetite Control which I can take in place of my tea and before meals to reduce my over eating habits. I haven’t tried that one yet but I keep hearing how yummy the flavors are. It’s a perfect substitute for coffee, soda or tea.
I work out at home. It’s hard because its challenging to even find the time. Once I get outside and start my routine, I feel invigorated! I love being outside even if it’s for 30 minutes! And when you have kids, time is of the essence. That’s when I turn to YouTube and watch my favorite workout buddy, Rebecca Louise fitness. You can start watching her here. She has the best workouts in 15 minutes or less! You can do them anywhere and now that its hot AF outside, I’m doing my workouts indoors with the fan on.
I try to incorporate weights, booty bands and chairs so that my dips are lower and so I have more resistance. Sometimes, I just put on music and dance for a good 15 minutes. Lastly, your going to need discipline.
They say that 80% of getting in better shape is from eating and only 20% is exercise. That means you have to eat clean if you want results and the cleaner you eat, the faster the weight will fall off! For me it wasn’t really about losing weight, it was about being healthy, and for my kids to be healthy too. Just keep thinking of that body you want and keep eating the right way. It will happen but it takes time. So with ALL that being said, here’s the shortened version:
