Every leaf speaks bliss, falling from the autumn tree, and every coffee is spiced in a way that tickles the nose. These are the gifts of autumn. They make the transition from outdoor water games and cool ice cream cones to warm, earthy decor and cups full of steamy goodness. If you blink, autumn’s elegant display will only be a quick show in Mother Earth’s yearly presentation. My suggestion is to take your time. Indulge in fall’s seasonal delights, even if your busy morning calls for it to go.
Fall into Routine again
Going back to routines means back to structure, schedules and planning. It can be intimidating but also inspiring. I treat Mondays as a mini “New Years” where I plan the week, prep the meals and grocery shop. Naturally, I choose my absolute favorite store, Target, because I’m literally surrounded by numerous locations. Not only do they carry all of my fall favorites, they are also the only place that I can easily find a cuddle-worthy cardigan and my go-to Starbucks® Pumpkin Spice Flavored Ground Coffee (11 oz.). Target really makes shopping a delightful experience, especially for us Moms with our extensive list making.
Inspired by the popular Starbucks PSL, Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Coffee has notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg, making it THE drink of fall. And with its limited availability, I tend to buy a few bags just in case they sell out. You can easily find it in the coffee aisle with its golden orange packaging.
Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Coffee, to me, is more than just a hot drink. It’s my companion as a stay-at-home Mom. It keeps me warm as I start the car on cool mornings and accompanies me to school drop off, all while continuously permeating the air with its thick, fall-like aroma. The best part is that it pairs so well with our coveted fall breakfast menu.
Breakfast Hacks & Combos
As a wellness advocate and a Mom, I tend to gravitate towards easy and filling meals that will
please everyone. I no longer have the time to cook a protein-powered breakfast, fueled by sleeping in and sponsored by cute pajamas. Instead, I satisfy mine and my kids’ hunger with nourishing and filling oats (with a side of Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Coffee for me). It can sound boring at first until you add in the fact that everyone gets to pick their own toppings. This gives them a sense of independence by allowing them to “help themselves” (while secretly helping me of course). Penny prefers raisins, brown sugar and a little vegan butter while Ace likes soy milk and shaved almonds, just like I prefer. But let’s be honest, we don’t always eat oats day in and day out. Where’s the fun in that?
Let’s reference how I focus on the aforementioned meal prepping in detail. When I say meal prepping, I’m not singling out lunch or dinner. I prep breakfast, too! One of the best ways to put smiles on my kids’ faces is with pumpkin pancakes fresh from the toaster. There really is no smell like the scent of pumpkin spices floating over our heads and filling our chest to the brim with each breath. You can make your own pumpkin pancakes by adding 1/4 cup pumpkin puree to any pancake batter. I make them the day before (usually Sunday) and make enough for a few days. After cooking, I place the remainder in the freezer (or fridge) and they stay fresh for the week after. I spread out the decadent pancake menu on days like Wednesday and Friday (when we could all use a little cake). Regardless of what we’re eating, prepping breakfast ahead of time gives us a chance to make our mornings a little more slow and savored (and gives me those blissful moments of coffee sipping).
