As promised, I will be disclosing all of the places I find Penny’s (and sometimes Ace’s) unique, high quality clothing for a fraction of the price! I’m telling you guys, my kids dress better than I do these days. That’s because it’s so easy to come by great quality for kids. Think about it for a second, how quickly do your kids grow? How often are you buying them bigger sizes? And I know you’ve got a stash of clothing your Auntie sent that’s just so awful, you’ve placed them in a bag far, far in the depths of your closet. Because you wanna protect them. I know, I know, you swear you like them… But realistically, I know two things for sure: 1. You have a stack of clothes that your kid(s) don’t wear from things that are new with tags to gently used things that have gotten too small. & 2. You want to find good clothes for less than boutique prices. Same.
Shop Consignment
People are seriously shocked when I tell them that I shop second-hand. “Yeah, it’s Italian, I got it for $30” in reference to my sons Jacadi Paris Peacoat which retails for way over $100. That’s because the store I got it from received it from another customer. If you don’t know how it works, it goes like this. You want to get rid of clothes that your kids don’t use because you’ve Marie Kondo’d your whole house and now, its time to let go. You decide to take it to your local consignment store. They will review your items and either re-sell them, or give them back to you. They will then give you the option of cash for your items they keep or store credit so you can shop other gently used clothing. You can also bring toys, books and baby gear. But check with your local store. Everyone is different.
The store that has won my heart over every time is Blue Bird LA off Larchmont in Los Angeles. It’s a hidden gem you guys. And I’m telling you this because, well, we are friends and that’s what friends do! Plus, they carry the best stuff and the owner is the sweetest. To make things better, there is a darling coffee spot right around the corner that sells an amazing latte but hurry in before 3:00 pm because they close early. Still not sure if it’s worth it? Okay, thought so.
