I’ve always struggled with sleep and subsequently, my skin is now a cause for concern due to aging. But the beauty of these two problems is that they’re easily treated together. Enclosed you will find my night time routine that can be personalized for your very needs. So if you struggle to get to bed and are in need of some skincare that works while you get your shut eye, then look no further… Well, look further than this bio at the very least!
Establish Routine
This is essentially what you read in all the new baby books. Routine is essential for a smooth night with a baby. It’s no wonder we are creatures who crave repetition, we have been exposed to it since day one. This is the most effective way to creating good habits and starting your restful nights sleep journey. I struggled with actual sleep but for some reason, establishing a night-time schedule was easy. But I think it’s vital mentioning it for anyone who isn’t a stickler like myself. We start our prepping at 7:00pm (which I think might be late for most) but we do run a busy little life over here so we feel this is fitting. Adjust times for whatever works for you!
7:00
Bath, vitamins, brush teeth, bed time story, prayer, lights out
Prep your Zen
This is a new addition to our sleepy time schedule. We have recently started prepping with low-playing, classical music and lavender in the form of candles and/or oil diffusers. Typically, we save the candles for the weekends and the diffuser for the weekdays. The kids have become impartial to the music and find it fun to ask google to play “classical essentials.” Once the music is on, they know that it’s time to be in bed with the lights out.
7:45
Kids in bed, essential oils diffused, music at a low level
Prep your skin
Typically we take this time to shower and arrange our skincare regimen. I am always so drawn to products that work while you sleep. I think it’s the ultimate cheat as far as skincare is concerned. That’s why I’m smitten with my sleeping cream from Thalgo. Thalgo’s products are used worldwide in spa’s as they offer quality results mimicking and utilizing marine-based ingredients. With their sleep cream, my face is more supple and bright when I wake up, just as it should be.
After cleansing, toning and moisturizing, I have been utilizing this Viicode T2 Oxygen Eye Cream that was gifted to me to help minimize the look of wrinkles and fine lines. I’ve been using it for months now and actually find that the small crows feet are barely noticeable to the naked eye!
Prep your Potion
When I say potion, I mean tea. Since finding out that magnesium helps with both anxiety and headaches, I’ve been adding it to my tea every night! I usually do a chamomile tea, mint tea or sleepy time tea with a teaspoon of Nature Vitality Calm (magnesium powder)
Resume connections, plan & relax
Finally, I take a glance at my calendar, mark reminders while I sit on the couch. This is especially a great time for me because there’s no distractions or shrieking children. Just classical music and lavender swirling in the air. I sip my tea and wait for my husband to come join me in a little Netflix session. We flip between comedy’s, drama’s and action shows (movies are too long!) before we make our way to bed.
Often times, we chat and catch up on each others days being careful not to become strangers in our relationship. We rely heavily on this routine to not change drastically since we both work every day. I’ve grown to love these times where we can both enjoy each other in a relaxing atmosphere.
My last recommendation’s I highly suggest utilizing in your bed-time routine are meditation, prayer and/or affirmations. We incorporated subliminal affirmations that come in all variety’s of sounds like rain falling, ocean waves and chirping crickets. Currently, we are in to the crickets.
