I invented a cold air balloon but it didn’t really take off… Happy February!! The month of Love is here and I have an unpopular opinion: I detest wearing red. I don’t know what it is but it’s just not my color. I absolutely love wearing it on my lips but for some reason, that’s where it stops. I go through Christmas wearing and even decorating with the least amount of red. I also feel like Valentines day is so overrated when it comes to the color pallette. I DO however think it’s adorable that my kids are smitten by anything red and pink. They make me want to try red again but for now, I’m listing 5 cute non-red ideas that will take you through this Valentines day without matching every other girl out there playing by the rules.
1.Clean White mini dress
First things first. What’s sexy? A mini. Always a mini. This satin mini white dress is not only super sexy in the front, it’s practically backless with just a few clasps keeping it all together. What I find very alluring about it is that with just a snap of a finger, you can have a Game of Thrones khaleesi moment like when she unties one string that drops her entire wardrobe to the floor. YOWZA! I covered myself with a Granny cardigan giving this outfit a sweet juxtaposition to just being sexy. I added a furry pale pink bag with a pearl strap and a pink lip. Kitten heels graced my toes leaving the illusion that I’m forever walking on my tiptoes. This white dress is coming soon to Tres Vu this week! The bag is available here.
2.Pale Pink
Muted or pale, pinks that are a dusty light color are the only ones I wear. Something about bright colors makes me screetch in to a melted puddle like a witch so I stay clear of them. But unlike red, I will allow pink hues to grace my closet if they meet the certain requirements in shade. This above pink slinky corset dress has such a sexy vibe to it. It will most definitely take your outfit to the next level! Pair it over a mesh top and sneakers to add a cool casual chic vibe or wear it like I did with kitten heels and a pink handbag. Shop this dress here.
3.Lingerie as clothing
Add a peek-a-boo effect to your date night with a pop of lingerie. And no I don’t mean let your thong hang hang out over your low rise jeans, I mean add a bralette to a blazer for a chic-girl ensemble. This look can be tricky if you plan on taking off your jacket. I find that pretending the jacket is part of my top makes me more conscious about where I take this outfit. Wear a coat and layer if you get cold easy. A great site to find bralettes like this exact one, is Felina.com.
4.Polka dot dress
Polka dot’s take me back to when I was young however, when done right, they can really help you pop for a cute-girl casual look this Valentines day. Try this polka dot midi dress with built in pockets and belt for a more defined waist. Adding textures like a moto jacket or a camel coat would bring it all together depending on your preference. If it’s cold where you are, tights and booties for the win! This cute number is available here.
5.Graphic Tee
Nothing says love like… well, virtually saying it on your tee shirt! I am currently loving dainty, embroidered wording above a pocket, or graphic letters in bold with adorable sayings like this one above. It’s an easy and simple way to skip the all red outfit and just add a touch of the hue. Then, this tee can be worn over and over again without it being so, February 14th.
