With COVID-19 creeping around our neighborhoods and being transferred so easily, it’s no wonder we take to our cherished living spaces in attempts to stop the virus from spreading. Home is where the corona virus isn’t but its also where all the humans are. And at my house, that’s two small kids, a husband and myself all sharing this tiny space. One thing I’ve found that brings me so much joy is my house plant collection! Mostly, I stick to air-purifying plants that help to rid the air of harmful toxins and pollutants in the air. Many of these plants are found at local stores but now that we are on lock down, shipping to home is crucial. Thankfully, there’s The Plant Chica on Etsy. She delivers house plants straight to your door! Scroll to see my favorites, click the image for direct links + see a glimpse in to my tiny home.
Welcome to my tiny home! We turned a greenhouse and garage into a three bedroom casita some 5 years ago. It’s been home to first days of school, first days at new jobs, even first steps! It’s a small space with wide, white walls. So, we covered them with pictures, shelves and plants. The plants we chose, although beautiful, were more than just for looks. My son is an asthmatic (typically only flaring up when hes sick) which caused this Mama to scroll the web for suggestions in purifying the air. We made the essential changes like a purifier, allergenic pillowcases and even air purifying plants.
Did you know that NASA did a study on plants that can help rid the house of toxins caused by everyday household products? The study further suggested that efficient air cleaning is accomplished with at least one plant per 100 square feet (9.3 m2) of space. So, my house is completely covered in those areas! Here’s a link to the study + all the plants that made the list.
The plants that I chose are from The Plant Chica. She sells wish list plants that get shipped straight to your door. You can see this video for an un-boxing because I know the first thing you are thinking is:
“how does she pack a plant into a box?!”
But I assure you, it’s possible! Below you will see some of her best sellers and some of her purifying plants that look so beautiful (these images don’t even do them justice.) At my house, I have snake plants, Chinese evergreen, English ivy, Pothos and spider plants. See the pretty visual below from apairandaspare.com via Pinterest to check them off your list too!
